2015 National Women’s Lacrosse League National Championship again on CollegeCasts

NWLL_LogoThe National Women’s Lacrosse League (NWLL) announced Monday morning the bracket for the 2015 NWLL National Championship hosted by Lindenwood University – Belleville. Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) has received the number one seed for the third consecutive year. The Lady Bees come into the national championship fresh off their South Region Championship. On Sunday the Lady Bees defeated Ave Maria 22-4 in the championship game. The Lady Bees have a 12-2 record this season, with their only two losses coming to Florida Tech and Georgetown. Last season the Lady Bees fell to Robert Morris 13-12 in the national championship game. Davenport University has received the second seed for the second straight year. The Panthers finished the regular season 12-3 and won the WHAC regular season championship for the second straight year. In the WHAC Conference Tournament, the Panthers defeated Aquinas College 14-7 in the semifinals, before defeating Indiana Tech 11-5 in the finals. The third seed this year goes to the West Region regular season champion Georgetown. In their first season in the NWLL the Tigers finished 10-3 overall and 6-0 in conference play. After defeating Oklahoma Baptist 23-10 in the semifinals of the West Region Tournament, the Tigers fell to reigning NWLL National Champions Robert Morris 12-11 in the championship. Earlier in the season the Tigers defeated number one seeded SCAD 13-12. Rounding out the top four seeds are the Warriors of Indiana Tech. The Warriors come into this year’s national championship with a 10-6 record. In the WHAC Tournament, the Warriors defeated Lawrence Tech 13-12 in the semifinals, but fell to the number two seed Davenport in the finals. The Warriors finished the season with a 10-6 record, with three of those losses coming to Davenport and one to SCAD.

The Eagles of Robert Morris look to defend their title in 2015 as the number five seed. After starting the season with a 5-4 record, the Eagles come into the national championship on a seven game winning streak. In the West Region Tournament, the Eagles defeated Lindenwood – Belleville 21-2 in the quarterfinals and Missouri Baptist 15-10 in the semifinals. The Eagles then would upset Georgetown in the finals 12-11 after two goals in the final minute. Tennessee Wesleyan receives the number six seed after winning the AAC regular season and conference tournament. After dropping their first two games of the season, the Bulldogs rallied off 12 straight victories to finish the season 12-2. In the AAC Conference Championship game, the Bulldogs defeated Reinhardt 16-13. The Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech will make their first appearance at the NWLL National Championship as the number seven seed. In their biggest victory of the season, the Blue Devils upset Davenport 19-18 in overtime. The Blue Devils finished the regular season 9-5, before falling to Indiana Tech in the WHAC Tournament. Reinhardt rounds out this year’s national championship as the number eight seed. The Eagles finished the season with a 7-7 record and a 4-1 record in conference play.

The NWLL National Championship kicks off Thursday when #1 SCAD takes on #8 Reinhardt at 12 pm. At 2:30 pm #2 Davenport will square off against #7 Lawrence Tech. In the third game of the day #3 Georgetown will take on #6 Tennessee Wesleyan. The final game of the day will be between #4 Indiana Tech and #5 Robert Morris at 7:30 pm.
